Jake Reyna-Casanova currently serves as a Senior Development Associate for CommuniCare Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in San Antonio, TX, aiming to improve the health of the entire community, especially for the underserved populations. In this position Jake writes and manages grants for the organization, as well as, assists with fundraising, marketing, and development for the organization. He has a true passion in creating diverse teams and partnerships to ensure high-quality of care is available for all. He also has experience in creating and tracking strategic plans and being innovative with future strategic plans to grow organizations.

 

Jake received his bachelor’s degree in Public Health from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and, shortly after, received his Master of Public Health degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2016. Prior to his current role, Jake worked for an FQHC in Houston, which is where his passion to help those most in need of healthcare services began. In his current position he is able to continue to showcase his passion and dedication towards helping and giving back to the community around him.

 

Outside of work, as a member of the LGBT community, Jake loves to serve and give back. He currently serves as a committee member of the American College of Healthcare Executives – LGBT Forum. In this role he is able to assist in creating an environment of inclusion amongst LGBT healthcare leaders and their peers, as well as, promote high-quality healthcare for LGBT individuals and families. Additionally, he also serves as a committee member of the Executive Diversity Career Navigator (EDCN), which is a collaborative project of six national healthcare organizations dedicated to advancing executive diversity. Lastly, he has volunteered with the Human Rights Campaign to ensure the path to increased LGBT-equality is maintained. In his free time he enjoys running, being with family and friends, and finding out what his next adventure will be.
